FASHION TV LAUNCH OF INTERNATIONAL STYLE WEEK 2010...

International Style Week (ISW) Limited, a fashion promotion and marketing company, based in Lagos unveiled the events of the International Style Week 2010. This event will showcase only the best of the best fashion leaders and designers from Nigeria and Africa at large over a span of 3days, starting on the 13th of October 2010.

According to the organizers of the event, “ISW is geared towards changing the fortunes of Nigeria designers by addressing the fundamental gaps in the value chain. With our population of 150million, Nigeria is potentially the largest market in Africa with annual fashion consumption spend in excess of N140billion, it is potentially the largest fashion market in Africa, but sadly relies on foreign designer goods”

As part of the launching, ISW in conjunction with Fashion TV International organized the first ever Fashion TV Lagos Party, the event took place on Saturday, 21st August, 2010 at Nu Grotto in Victoria Island, Lagos. It was hosted by TV presenter/model Isio Wangoho and had loads of fashionistas and "well i dont know what to call them alike"... TIDBITS

On a really sad note Ultima studios where "MTN project fame" and "Who wants to be a millionaire" used to be recorded was engulfed in fire which was allegedly caused by electrical problems, but nobody was hurt though a lot of valuables were gone nothing compares to human life... MTN project fame and who wants to be a millionaire would still go on but in another venue...We thank God.

Finally the video of one of the greatest collabos in Africa "kiss your hand remix",R2bees feat Wande coal is out and getting mad airplay, the video is aight and i guess the songs just adds to the niceness of it all...

"Naija Hail" a new song is the collaborative effort by Toni Payne Concept artists – Adol, Zara and Coded Tunes artist Olamide. The song has been picked up by the radio stations in Nigeria and is building airplay. It was produced by ID Cabasa.

Theater @ Terra is still on till the last Sunday of the month the 29th. This month play is :

The Lion and the Jewel by Wole Soyinka and directed by Wole Oguntokun .

2 shows at 3pm and 6pm respectively.

Gate fee:N2500.

Venue is Terra Klture,1376 Tiamiyu Savage V/Island Lagos

BIG BROTHER REVOLUTION "PERFECT LOVE MATCH"

Big Brother Africa has provided great entertainment over the last few years but has the show created a perfect love match?

On Tuesday the 24th of August this posting popped up on a Big Brother Africa forum accompanied by a photo of Kevin and Lizzy kissing.

"Breaking News! Last Saturday (21 Aug) while at the Ogus Baba Laugh Goes On comedy club in Port Harcourt, Big Brother Revolution winner, Kevin Chuwang Pam and his lady friend, and Revolution contestant Elizabeth Gupta got up on stage and performed a track together.

Nigeria’s biggest comedian, Ali Baba introduced the couple to the 2000 strong crowd. Once they’d finished performing “Una Pata Mambo” (Anything you want, right there you get it), Kevin went down on one knee and proposed to Elizabeth. He said he kept it simple and just asked: “Elizabeth, will you marry me?”.

The crowd started screaming: “say yes, say yes, say yes” and obviously she did. Kevin then says a woman broke free from the crowd, ran onto the stage and congratulated them both with a huge hug.

This was followed by congratulatory Facebook status messages from fellow Big Brother Revolution Africa stars including Geraldine.

The news is still a surprise to many fans though because during the show last year, Kevin was seriously having the hots for Elizabeth who on the other hand was in an out, she made it clear that she liked him but couldn’t see them having a relationship. She also shared that she had “never dated a black guy” and also said “Kevin was too short for her”!
It is great to see them get together and we wish them well

Plus the last 1year has been great for Kevin, first he became the first Nigerian to win Big Brother Africa and got a whooping sum of $200,000 cheque and now he is reportedly engaged to the love of his life. Up next for is the release of his debut album and some of his singles are getting air play. Elizabeth is also working on her music and acting career, she featured in a Tanzanian movie entitled “Danger Zone” earlier in the year.

And homemade entertainment can authoritatively tell you that this two are engage and about to be married,i even saw them at Chuddy K's album listening party

Wyclef Jean Will Not Be Haiti's Next President

The ball Wyclef Jean had tossed into the political ring of Haiti has been tossed back.

The Haiti-born singer-songwriter did not make the final list of approved candidates who satisfy legal requirements to run in his native country's presidential election, an electoral official tells the Los Angeles Times. The main reason is that Jean, 39, lives primarily in New Jersey – and not on the Caribbean island.

"He is not on the list as I speak," said the official, whose identity was not revealed.

Jean had left Haiti at the age of 9, for Brooklyn, N.Y.

One of 34 hopefuls in Haiti's Nov. 28 election, Jean and his potential candidacy brought some much-needed excitement to the island, which on Jan. 12 was ravaged by a devastating earthquake.

So far, there has been no comment from the musician.

KAJOLA.

To be fore warned is to be fore armed is the case of Kajola,my friends had warned me not to see it that it was a waste of money and time but being very open to new ideas i decided to go and see it.Brief Synopsis: The story is about Allen a rebel leader who learns that the NEW NIGERIAN POLICE AND GOVERNMENT" want to build cities on the mainland and destroy the remaining survivors to create a "NEW NIGERIA"because as it was everything was destroyed
Got into the Palms and went upstairs to get the ticket and out of curiosity i asked the babe how many people are in the theater, she said 9 and i just said OK,nothing new maybe people are whiling away time because of the 15mins advert.
And then the movie started, useless is an understatement, the film looked like street fighter of 1997 and even if we want to analyze the movie well street fighter was better, there was a particular girl that seemed to be new in the movie industry and she looked too stupid, acting was horrendous, everything about the movie was just horrible. The producers basically copied and pasted the scenery(utterly blinding) behind the characters..I already have a headache writing about these and please somebody should advise Uncle Brother Daddy Desmond Elliot that he should stick to acting not directing and his latest singing...Pls we can only take so much

Say NO to NUTS!!!! by Princess Roberts

Imagine a three year old boy who spies a bowl full of chocolate covered nuts, he smiles a toothless smile and runs over to the bowl and is about to have one when his mother runs swiftly over, picks up the bowl and shakes her head. He looks at her pleadingly, she tells him he cannot have any and puts the bowl on a high table where he cannot reach it.he pulls at her skirt and pleads with her but she still shakes her head,he promises in the best way that a three year old can that he will not ruin his dinner and that he will have only one and that he will put away his toys and be good and quiet all afternoon and the answer is still NO
So you’re thinking: Why is this mother so heartless? What is the harm in letting him have just one chocolate covered nut?
Well, this lovely little boy is deathly allergic to nuts and is also lactose intolerant. Just one bite of a tiny little nut will cause his throat to close up and his lips to swell up and could end his life within minutes. So while he is struggling to breathe, he has to deal with pain, flatulence and dizziness. His mother cannot explain this to him because he will not understand or will not grasp the gravity of it. So she has to continue to refuse him the chocolate nuts.
If this three year old boy were to be able to articulate perfectly his feelings at the time, he would tell his mother that she was very wicked and insensitive to prevent him from having something that would make him the happiest boy on earth. What kind of a mother would do that to a child, he would ask?
Now, you’re thinking: Wait a minute. This child is delusional. Of course chocolate nuts won’t bring eternal happiness and all that rubbish to him. He will have one and then want another and then another until the bowl is finished, and then in a couple hours, he will want some more chocolate or will have lost interest in the bowl and want something else to fill his curiosity.Forget fantasy and eternal happiness, this child cannot even have these nuts.
But that child is all of us and that mother is God. When He tells you that you cannot do something, do you listen? Or do you go into a sulk or throw a tantrum and question His grace, mercy and love? Do you cry to Him asking why you cannot have that job promotion, migrate to that country, marry that man/woman, have that male child, sleep with your boyfriend/girlfriend, wear those clothes, etc. Do you get up and decide that you are going to do it anyway? And then after suffering, going to the hospital to have your throat opened up again and stomach pumped, do you then crawl back to him sheepishly, filled with gratitude that He will never say ‘I told you so’? Do you then wish you saved yourself an awful lot of trouble by just listening to Him? Do you feel terrible for calling Him a bad Father when He was trying to protect you? Or should you just be patient and obey him

NIGERIAN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

The NFA have opened talks with Simon Siasia in a bid to hire him to coach the super eagles seeing that he is a coach or repute(i guess) but Ahmodu Shiabu has argued that the likes of Steven Keshi should also be allowed to opportunity for the post...I want to outline or better put ask a few questions:

1.Did Steven Keshi indicate interest in coaching the super eagles to Ahmodu or he is being a very patriotic Nigerian "knowing the needs of the football sector"?

2. If STEVEN did we are in a "DEMOCRATIC" nation he should come out and voice his ambition.Abi?

3.Is Ahomdu Shiabu using style style to say he wants to be coach? *straight face*

4.Are they really interested in coaching Nigeria's National team or is interested in COACHING THE MONEY *STRAIGHT FACE*.

I am not a football fanatic but i try small, lets analyze these questions and actually conclude rightly

NIGERIA,HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

I am Nigerian and proudly so and can only look for ways in which i can commit my own quota to the betterment of the nation, but those guys sitting up there make it a herculean task..
Some years ago when the beggars on the street used to beg they did it subtly that even if you planned on not giving them u just had to because you were moved, but now these people beg with aggressiveness, if you dont turn to look at them when they knock on the window they begin to bang or lick the window(what rubbish),i dont even answer them anymore(yes some of you might say its mean but sometimes its the way forward,i work for my money so if i dont want to give, NA BY FORCE? Of recent those miscreants (and am not sorry for my use of English) that parade traffic washing windows with what they call soap and some stick and foam have formed the habit that when they finish washing and you dont give them money they would pour soap on your windscreen or bang the car and in my mind i say(owo e lo ma dun e) for my non Yoruba speaking readers it means "NA YOUR HAND GO PAIN YOU".Basically everybody expects that you have to work for them but please if you dont work you cant eat(if you cant live with that third mainland isn't far off)...
Nigerians are being ripped off,we dont know our rights so we just take everything that comes our way, when your family member tells you that there is light(half or full current) you get scared, can u imagine, some people i know have actually gone to the bank to change N5000 to smaller denominations to give to the beggars with guns sorry i meant POLICE,We have done "LIGHT UP NIGERIA CAMPAIGN", SENT LETTER TO SENATE OR THE PRESIDENCY AND YET NOTHINC HAS CHANGED!!!!! Have u noticed that when we cant bribe our way true something(and yes dont form that you dont know what am talking about)we become angry because its the way of life,it has become a way of life...We expect the leaders to steal money but do something that when you leave office you have something to be remembered for,all the murder cases that involved high personalities have gone unsolved, all the top-shots that are in EFCC would soon be released(its only a matter of time) and the case would be closed, corruption has eaten deep into our system and has become the watch word for the nation...IN NIGERIA ITS "MONEY TALKS BULLSHIT WORKS"...In as much as we talk and talk and talk we have to keep praying for Nigeria and do our own part for the betterment of the country

Just wondering

Why does Mr Jonathan need 2 presidential jets worth 23 billion naira when we have roads beyond repair and airports below international standards?

"OUT WITH THE OLD AND BACK IN WITH THE OLD" by Gbugbemy Ogisi

One might think that because of the progress (or rather regress?) that we have made in the area of clothing, we would not look back at our past,Think again, today we all see a resurgence of popular fashion styles from the past.
It's no secret that fashion has come to the stage when it recycles itself, yes recycle in the sense that clothes from the 50s and 80s are back, fashion has certainly come a long way from the top hats and petticoats era of the past,Clothes today have become a great combination of aesthetics and function. Also, modern clothing styles are greatly influenced by certain patterns introducad by fashion, advertising, and stereotypes to make people look "sexy" or even "sexier."
Reality, as always, has a way of denying what we all think. Today, we all see a resurgence of the past,Fashion does tend to repeat itself, take a good look at what the runways have right now and if you search hard enough, you will find that at least a quarter of the current stuff on the runways has been inspired by retro or vintage looks!!
But what does retro or vintage actually mean? Does it mean that the same old clothes are removed and washed, and presented again as new looks? Or does it mean that designers combine old fashions with current trends to create vintage-inspired new looks?
It can be very surprising and frankly, it does sound like cheating, how can major designers stoop to recycle old fashions into new trends when they look exactly the same? Are we that uninspired in the modern age that designers have to resort to cannibalizing old fashions?

No one knows exactly when and what created an interest in vintage fashion. Till a few years back, anyone who wore old clothes was simply referred to as cheap but all that changed when fashionistas and celebrities started wearing gowns from the yesteryear collections of designers like Karl Lagerfield and Chanel to red carpet events. Pretty as picture gowns that were essentially designed way back in the 1920s and 30s suddenly came in to prominence and the style slowly started to seep down into the younger Hollywood set. Twin celebrities like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen where another teen sensation that wore vintage fashion consistently, not that they made it look good but for some reason, they managed to make it work! The essential look that they sported was old combined with a few expensive new pieces that created a completely new look. The tweens also managed to make a complete fashion empire of the look by designing and selling the patchwork look through their in-house fashion line for students. Eclectic stars like Dita Von Teese and Chloe Sevigny also were deep fans of the look and although they were initially panned for their old fashioned dressing sense, they did manage to garner praise and acceptability over time. But no one managed to nail the look as Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Over a few years time, almost every student is now raiding their parent’s clothes closets to find fashions that could be distilled to form hip and happening college wear!

One major group of people that can be blamed for the surge in recycling of trends and fashion styles are FASHION STYLISTS! In an effort to create distinctive looks for the stars they were dressing, popular stylists started raiding charity run second hand clothing stores, garage sales, car boot sales, flea markets, antique stores, estate sales, vintage clothing stalls and collectible fairs. It was always possible to find cheap but still wear worthy clothes that no one else had or had worn to red carpet events. Distinctive but old fashioned dresses could then be tweaked and dressed up by designers to look different! And more often than not, stars who were dressed so different to the current modern trends were lauded by the media for being “different, classy, and stylish.” It created enough of a media hullabaloo to make the stylist, the Hollywood star and the dress instantly memorable in the public mind. This dress would then go on to be copied and used by other designers as an “inspiration” for their collections. But most designers were savvy enough to use the original design only with subtle and distinctive design changes of their own! And that led to fashion recycling without any copyright infringement!

All in all fashion is the art of styles that change, whether is be recycled or what not, old or new, it would still be a statement in our lives.

SINKING SANDS.

Despite the not so lovely drama ensuing in the Ghana Nigeria industry of film making, some filmmakers have ignored that and are forging on to create master pieces and one of such is "SINKING SANDS" by Leila Djansis starring Yemi Blaq,Jimmy Jean Louis,Ama Abebrese and a host of others.

Yemi Blaq plays the prominent role of Dr. Zach Mathews, a British African MD who becomes an anchor in the failing marriage of a Pabi and Jimah, played by Ama Abebrese and Jimmy Jean Louis respectively.

The story of the movie dwells on Pabi and Jimah a happily married couple who are living a peaceful life until disaster strikes in the form of a domestic accident which leaves Jimah with a scar. Unable to live with his new features, his anger and hurt turn him into a monster. The once peaceful relationship turns into abuse

The movie was shot on location in Ghana and is set for a November release across West Africa, after which it begins legendary festival rounds across the globe.

Other stars in the movie include Akosua Agyepong, the sexy Chris Attoh and Doris Sacktey.

Jay Jay okocha's movie set to debut

There's a movie set to honor one of Nigeria's greatest soccer stars and former captain of the Super Eagles, Austin Jay Jay Okocha. The movie is titled "FEET OF DESTINY" and it centers on jay jays life and exploits on the field of play and Emeka Ike(am wondering why) has been penciled down to play Jay Jay.

It will also feature Hollywood Jimmy Jean Luis, Hakeem Kazim, Kira Obyron and a host of others.

But Emeka Ike as Jay Jay? why??? There are younger talents in the industry but then again i guess the producer and director know what they want hmmm....

Who would you rather have play Okocha?

Just a Reminder..

Gov Babatunde Raji Fashola is just Gods blessing to Lagos state and his works are very visible....But there has been a very particular road that is a cause of concern to most road users in V/Island most especially and that is Bishop Aboyade Cole street that harbors the very prestigious Nail Studio,Dream plaza and even a LAGOS STATE INTERNAL REVENUE TAX OFFICE..So we at homemade entertainment are using this medium to call on the governor or the tax office to please do something about the terribleness(if theres a word like that) of that road...Thank you

I JUST HAD TO SHARE THESE....

It hurts when people still ask you these

1. When people see you lying down, with your eyes closed they still ask:
- Are you sleeping?
- What’s your answer?
- No! I’m learning Astral projection!

2. Imagine when you take an electronic equipment to a technician to get it fixed and he still asks you:
- need to be fixed?
- No, it got bored of staying home alone so I brought It over for a ride.

3. When It’s raining and someone notices you going out, they ask:
- Are you going out in this rain?
- No, in the next one.

4. Your friend calls your home phone:
- Where are you?
- At News café! I brought my House over!

5. They see you wet coming from the bathroom:
- Did you just have a bath?
- No, I swam in the bath!

6. You are standing right in front of the elevator from the ground floor and they ask:
- Going up?
- No, no, I am waiting for my apartment to come get me.

7. Your boyfriend comes to your house with a bunch of flowers. And you still ask him:
- Flowers?
- No baby! Carrots.

8. You’re in the toilet when someone tries to open the, finds it locked, then knocks on the door asking:
- Is anyone in there?
- No! The SHIT is talking to you!

9. You head straight to bank with a cheque ready to get money:
-Then the lady asks you, In cash?
- No, In clips and plastics!

10. You’re on the queue @ the cinema:
- then a friend asks, Here to see a movie?
- No! I came to pay my NEPA bill!

- Are you back?
- No! I am a figment of your imagination

Omotola Jolade Ekeinde.... Missing u------>Video

Omotola one of our favorite screen goddesses is taking over and knocking over and out but subtly everything in her way.....Remember the club banger "GBA" that was released by her some few years ago...Yes Omotola is back and this time bigger and better....She just released the video of her song "MISSING U" and we must say we are really proud of her and wish her all the best as the sky is just her starting point...

SALT...

I went out with a couple of friends to watch losers(as agreed) when we got to the cinema, losers was sold out and then we settled for salt(i actually had been looking forward to this,so what better time...We got the tickets and got settled into our seats, after 5mins i turned around and the whole place was full, people were even standing....
Anyways as cinemas are turning into Nigerian Movies where they do adverts for 30mins not forgetting the reminder from Kate Henshaw-Nuttal and Funke Akindele to pay your tax....
And finally the movie started...GENGENGENGEN(action time).. As a CIA officer SALT,Evelyn Salt swore an oath to duty, honor and country. In the course of duty she was tested when Orlv said she was a Russian spy and up until a point i believed she was,but then she started showing who she really was for...Angelina Jolie was at her best here,i was literally screaming because she was on point, the storyline, comic and action most especially(i really dont want to spoil the movie for you,so go to any cinema and watch it plssss)....
And at the end of the movie, the whole cinema was in an uproar...Salt the movie should be nominated for an Oscar so should Angelina Jolie, she was ON POINT!!!Thank you..#Ok bye

Teenagers of nowadays------------>Montana Fishburne..

I dont know what to make of this *i dont even know what to call it* In desperation or a bid to it, Lawrence Fishburne's daughter Montana has concluded that the very "best and most sensible" way to become famous is to become a porn star...chai!!! What is the world turning into??? In her statement and ever proudly she said "I view making this movie as an important first step in my career. I've watched how successful Kim Kardashian became and I think a lot of it was due to the release of her sex tape. I'm hoping the same magic will work for me. I'm impatient about getting well-known and having more opportunities and this seemed like a great way to get started on it." This just bellows out STUPID!!!! If by doing this she thinks her career will get propelled then baby girl has something else coming..And we truly wish her the best...*joke*
If you want to become famous be famous for good, daddy has contacts and can get you mentored by Oprah,Whoopi Goldberg,Sophie Okonedo...This are strong beautiful and successful women who worked their way hard to the top.. We want to hear Lawrence Fishburne's thought on this act of the daughter

KFC keeps taking over...

Yes the KFC franchise is at it again, they have just opened a new branch on ligali Ayorinde in V/Island just beside the Mobil filling station..So instead of facing the traffic getting to THE PALMS you can make a quick stop in the environ..So lets get ORIGINAL or better still HOT 'N' CRISPY... Wink

BLACKBERRY,BLACKBERRY,BLACKBERRYS....

How i absolutely love my blackberry and am guessing so does everyone, well most people in Nigeria but i dont know whether its the love or obsession of the blackberry or just stupidity and lack of joblessness that makes people send the most useless and unrealistic broadcast messages on it.. And i have gotten angry with some of my friends who seem so gullible to actually send some messages...Here are a few and i am going to dissect each one...The most recent as at yesterday 9-8-2010 was about "a boy who had being stabbed or something by his stepfather for wanting to save his lil sister of 2 from being raped while the mum was at work, and the boy needed urgent surgery to save his life and so if every company forwarded it the money would be raised to perform the surgery"..People for goodness sake if the surgery was urgent blackberry is too rich to be "sending" messages they would have gone ahead to help save the boys life... Lets come down to Nigeria where people dont seldom move with common sense, they said third mainland bridge is cracking abi cracked and its about to collapse..Really, as in am shocked just because you dont have a paying job or any means of survival or you want to ease traffic u decide to publish a foolish story,it really gets me wondering in what way you actually got ur blackberry, then the said while i was on ADEOLA ODEKU that robbers where there its either i did not see the robbers or the hawkers and legless beggars had turned to robbers*raised eyebrow*,People pls stop sending messages about what drink do u think i am fanta,coke,sprite,stout,moet..STOP!!!..if you want to find out pls drink one of them, the one that gets u fired up should be noted and the one that keeps you sober should be noted likewise..Blackberry was actually meant to ease communication lines with people through the use of the blackberry messenger and help you access your mails easily and not used as A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION BOTH PHYSICALLY AND BROADCSTINGLY(my new word)..So get yourselves back to work or get yourself a job and stop being silly...I know this article is very silly but there was no better way to get the message across...GOODBYE *Computer Voice*

Kelly hansome and his pimp my room show.

When i came across this,i had to burst out in laughter...you remember MTV'S pimp my ride with Xzibit and then pimp my room with various people and Naija as we are we dont fail to copy..So therefore the Maga don pay crooner decides to have his own show "PIMP MY ROOM"...I am actually looking forward to see the first episode of this and we at homemade entertainment wish him he best of luck..
Its going to be airing on AIT,PRIMETIME AFRICA,NIGEZIE,HI TV,BEN TV(LONDON),NTA

APOLOGIES..

I am formally writing to all my followers to apologies,i know i haven't been on here in a while but am back now and better...Theres so much stuff to catch up on,so fasten your seat belts and lets fly together....xoxo
