The Senate has ordered the Minister of Education, Rufai Rukiyat to reopen all schools closed for the voter registration exercise as soon as possible, but not later than Friday 28 January. The order followed a motion brought before the senate by Victor Ndoma Egba (PDP Cross River State). Mr Ndoma said that closing the schools means “sacrificing the future of our children for political gains.” -234next. THE FACES OF A JANUS
#FOOD FOR THOUGHT BY GUEST BLOGGER Ibhade.
I believe we have come across some Janus [es] in our lives? People who display double standard? They dish out advice on issues with tongue- in -cheek-attitude. But when a similar thing happens to them, their reaction is different from the solution they suggested to someone else! And when you ask them why? They would say my case is different! How different?, you might wonder! Some would say, LAI! LAI! i can't do or accept such a thing o, but behind you, they would be speaking in a different language!
I was ranting about how unfair a man was who married a 2nd wife when his first wife could not conceive after many years. When i paused, a man listening all along then asked me if the man was my brother nko? My initial response was to say ; I REJECT IT IN JESUS NAME! Then begin saying the usual consolation talk; TRUST IN GOD, HAVE FAITH & blah, blah, & blah! But an inner voice asked; ARE YOU BEING HONEST WITH YOURSELF? I clamped up! Looked at the man askance who had been watching me silently as the emotions played on my face , then muttered ; I DUNNO. Which is the honest truth my friends...IF it happens, would i rant like i was doing back then or play the understanding card?
It is easy for us to dole out advices, when it is not happening to us, but when we wear the shoe & knows where & how it hurts, we might be surprised by our own reaction. HUMAN BEINGS are highly deceptive, some would tell you it does not matter, kini big deal? but would they say so when it affects them? Like when i read in DEE'S blog a post where she said, a man came on air to complain that his fiancee jilted him a day to their wedding. People called in & lamblasted this gal. When the gal called back & said that, she found out the guy was impotent few days to their wedding! It was the same Nigerians that called back to abuse the guy, that he was wicked!...haha! human beings! Like i commented, i go pick my slippers & run kia! kia! like mary onyali sef! ...did i hear someone say love?...abegiii....when wahala shele, love go jump out of the window f-i-a-m! SEX is the koko in marriage oo! [abi i lie my fellow sisters?...hehehe].
I started a 'fight' in Linda's blog when i advised that a man should not make his wife his next of kin & should seek the court to address the issue than to have brought the matter to the public to be mocked & insulted since his wife refused to change her maiden name to his after 7 years of marriage. M-E-H-N! Come see as insults dey fly left, right & center. I didn't get involved in the fight because i know when & where to pick my battles & in this case, silence is golden. I know, many would disagree with me, pls be kind o, & state your POV in a civil manner, no hitting below the belt, because i won't turn the other cheek o....KAI! i sabi court trouble sha oo! Wetin dem never call me for blogsville for speaking bluntly? FASTO, DEVILISH, HYPOCRITE, IGNORAMUS, UN-EDUCATED, ILLITERATE!..hahahahahaha...walahi! dem no go fit wound me at all! I DEY KAMPE GIDIGBAM! :)
Lets be truthful to ourselves, there are some things we cannot tolerate, but expect others to do so, why? Is not fair! Like a situation where a man told his mother to go back to her matrimonial home after staying with him for 2years because of the friction between his wife & her. He had always ignored his wife complaints saying she was intolerant, until he witnessed an episode himself by chance. His sister came, spitting fire & brimstone that he cannot do that! He insisted & she went back her her hubby who had sent her away initially because of her troublesome attitude with the other wives in his house! I said to myself, is the sister mother-in-law living with her? If she so loves her mother, then she should stay with her, shikenna! Tell me, which woman likes her mother-in-law to stay with her? Even the men, barely tolerant their mother-in-laws, but they keep quiet as long as the home is peaceful & the wife is not complaining!
Who is your confidant? We live in a communal society that instead of going to shrinks /therapist to discuss issues, we rather talk with friends or relations. Some are sincere but some speak from the 2 -sides of their mouth! SO BE CAREFUL! How do you know such people?... YOU DON'T! UNTIL YOU CATCH THEM RED-HANDED! So when people talk, listen to the 'tone' then watch their faces, especially their eyes, if experienced enough, you might catch a flick of mockery or sarcasm from their face & in their words. I read in the papers on Sunday, how a couple found out his wife- to- be is HIV+ while he is negative. He is confused on what to do, hence, he seek the public opinion. By next week, when i read the replies, SOME would tell him to go ahead, & trust in GOD. SOME would question the love he claims to have for her. SOME would play the 'stigmatization' card. SOME would say it is suicidal! And i nitty-gritty say; HE SHOULD CALL OFF THE WEDDING BECAUSE HE WOULD BE LIVING IN FEAR OF BEING INFECTED PERIOD!....harsh?...If he was your brother nko? or the case is reversed & it's the man that is positive, would you allow your sister to marry him?...please lets be truthful to ourselves & STOP playing the religious & sentiment card! Like i read in 9jablogs when Aiysah wrote about her personal problem. She said, a woman asked Prophet Mohammed if she should tie her donkey or trust in GOD to protect it. The Prophet said. TIE YOUR DONKEY & THEN TRUST IN GOD! ...shikenna!
Why do best friends fall apart after many years of friendship huh? Simply because one of them have developed the FACES OF A JANUS, over the years, & the other party just realized it! What makes people to have the faces of a JANUS...envy? sadist? material gains? wickedness?...i really dunno....that is why we should know where to draw the line when confiding in people & put our trust in GOD alone! Thanks.

OPRAH'S BIG SECRET.
Oprah Winfrey revealed her secret on her show and it was that she had a half sister and you could she that she was full of excitement as she introduced her long lost half-sister by name ‘Patricia’ through a family reunion.

‘The discovery is ”the miracle of all miracles’’, Oprah told her audience. An equally excited Patricia said she feared her search would be fruitless after she got a telephone call from the state adoption agency, which reported that her mother had been contacted and did not wish to meet her.

CELIAC DISEASE
Celiac disease is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. People who have celiac disease cannot tolerate gluten, a protein in wheat, rye, and barley.
Gluten is found mainly in foods but may also be found in everyday products such as medicines, vitamins, and lip balms.When people with celiac disease eat foods or use products containing gluten, their immune system responds by damaging or destroying villi—the tiny, fingerlike protrusions lining the small intestine.
Villi normally allow nutrients from food to be absorbed through the walls of the small intestine into the bloodstream. Without healthy villi, a person becomes malnourished, no matter how much food one eats.Celiac disease is both a disease of malabsorption—meaning nutrients are not absorbed properly—and an abnormal immune reaction to gluten. Celiac disease is also known as celiac sprue, nontropical sprue, and gluten-sensitive enteropathy.
Celiac disease is genetic, meaning it runs in families. Sometimes the disease is triggered—or becomes active for the first time—after surgery, pregnancy, childbirth, viral infection, or severe emotional stress.
Symptoms of celiac disease vary from person to person. Symptoms may occur in the digestive system or in other parts of the body. Digestive symptoms are more common in infants and young children and may include
* abdominal bloating and pain
* chronic diarrhea
* vomiting
* constipation
* pale, foul-smelling, or fatty stool
* weight loss
Irritability is another common symptom in children. Mal-absorption of nutrients during the years when nutrition is critical to a child’s normal growth and development can result in other problems such as failure to thrive in infants, delayed growth and short stature, delayed puberty, and dental enamel defects of the permanent teeth.
Adults are less likely to have digestive symptoms and may instead have one or more of the following:
* unexplained iron-deficiency anemia
* fatigue
* bone or joint pain
* arthritis
* bone loss or osteoporosis
* depression or anxiety
* tingling numbness in the hands and feet
* seizures
* missed menstrual periods
* infertility or recurrent miscarriage
* canker sores inside the mouth
* an itchy skin rash called dermatitis herpetiformis
People with celiac disease may have no symptoms but can still develop complications of the disease over time. Long-term complications include malnutrition—which can lead to anemia, osteoporosis, and miscarriage, among other problems—liver diseases, and cancers of the intestine.
Celiac disease affects people in all parts of the world. Originally thought to be a rare childhood syndrome, celiac disease is now known to be a common genetic disorder. More than 2 million people in the United States have the disease, or about 1 in 133 people.1 Among people who have a first-degree relative—a parent, sibling, or child—diagnosed with celiac disease, as many as 1 in 22 people may have the disease.2
Celiac disease is also more common among people with other genetic disorders including Down syndrome and Turner syndrome, a condition that affects girls’ development.
The only treatment for celiac disease is a gluten-free diet. Doctors may ask a newly diagnosed person to work with a dietitian on a gluten-free diet plan. A dietitian is a health care professional who specializes in food and nutrition. Someone with celiac disease can learn from a dietitian how to read ingredient lists and identify foods that contain gluten in order to make informed decisions at the grocery store and when eating out.
For most people, following this diet will stop symptoms, heal existing intestinal damage, and prevent further damage. Improvement begins within days of starting the diet. The small intestine usually heals in 3 to 6 months in children but may take several years in adults. A healed intestine means a person now has villi that can absorb nutrients from food into the bloodstream.
To stay well, people with celiac disease must avoid gluten for the rest of their lives. Eating even a small amount of gluten can damage the small intestine. The damage will occur in anyone with the disease, including people without noticeable symptoms. Depending on a person’s age at diagnosis, some problems will not improve, such as short stature and dental enamel defects.
ANNE HATHAWAY AS THE NEW CATWOMAN
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, the forthcoming Batman movie by acclaimed director Christopher Nolan will feature the American actress Anne Hathaway as 'Catwoman', reports the UK's Independent newspaper. Hathaway will be the first actress to play the Gotham City villain since Michelle Pfeiffer took on the role for 'Batman Returns'.
There has been intense speculation in recent weeks as to which villains would feature in the new movie and who would be cast, but in a statement Wednesday (19th January 2011) 40-year-old Nolan said, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story". The director also confirmed that 'Inception' star Tom Hardy will star as 'Bane', a villain that previously appeared in the 1997 movie 'Batman & Robin', he added, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman's most formidable enemies".
Christian Bale will once again play 'The Caped Crusader' and Sir Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman are all expected to reprise their roles from the acclaimed 2008 movie 'Batman: The Dark Knight'.

KIDNAPPED WOMAN REUNITED WITH FAMILY 23 YEARS LATER
The New York police renewed their search for the kidnapper of a woman who was abducted 23 years ago and recently reunited with her family, officials said.
Carlina White, 23, was reunited with her family this week after being kidnapped as a newborn from Harlem Hospital in 1987, police said,unaware of her true identity, White was raised as Nejdra Nance with a family in Bridgeport, Connecticut, about 45 miles east of her biological parents' home.
She became suspicious when her Connecticut family was unable to provide her with a birth certificate or Social Security number,She then tracked down her biological parents in New York City through the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. "Carlina was a missing link, and we have gotten her back in the name of Jesus. Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!" said Pat Conway, White's godmother.
New York Police Detective Joseph Cavitolo said Carlina's mother Joy had just given birth in the hospital and gave the baby to a woman who was disguised as a nurse,Carlina's grandmother, Elizabeth White, said the family always remained optimistic,"I never gave up hope," she said. "We always thought one day she would come back. I never thought she had died."
While there was an investigation at the time to locate the child, the trail grew cold, police said,The investigation has resumed now that White has been found, police said.They used DNA testing this week to confirm she was the missing child.

WHY I DRESS UP AS A WOMAN----IDRIS OGUNLEYE
This has got to be the funniest story ever,but then again its happening everywhere and one more reason why we should thank God for the priviledges he has given us.
A 19-year-old man, Ogunleye Idris, has been arrested by the police for parading himself as a woman.Idris allegedly dressed in a woman’s gown, a black waist belt, faked breasts by putting two sachet water, popularly known as “pure” water, in a bra and wore a black 14-inch wig and a gold-like earrings, pretending to be a female sex worker.(but the guy didnt even do it well he should have fixed lace wig na)
Unfortunately one of his victims, an unidentified man who had invited him to a bar at Surulere, suspected his gender and raised an alarm. Other people in the bar held Mr. Idris hostage, stripped him of his clothes and alerted a police patrol van in the area who subsequently arrested him.
Adesanya Jinadu, the deputy spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, confirmed the arrest.
“This young man, Ogunleye Idris, was arrested on January 15th, about 11.40pm where he has gone to a bar at Surulere to defraud an unidentified man,” he said.
“The man suspected that he was a man pretending to be a woman. Idris is in the habit of behaving like a woman and luring unsuspecting men. He has defrauding many men when luck finally ran out on him,” Mr. Jinadu said.
But Idris said he impersonated a woman because he was in dire need of money for his education.
“I went into this act just last month because I needed money. I have tried menial jobs but much was not coming from it. My desperation to get money for my JAMB and I wanted to buy a part time form to University of Lagos made me to impersonate. I am not a gay; people tell me that I look like a woman and I have a feminine voice, so I thought I could use what I have to get what I want. I got the female clothes, shoes and bags from the market at Isolo where I live. My intention is that when I get the money for my part time form and my JAMB, I will quit. This man was my third victim, and I have made N20,000 from this deal.
“I intended to stop and go into teaching when school resumes, because I wanted to go to the university to study Accountancy, because I am a very brilliant boy. I am the last of 10 children and my mother is dead. My father told me that he cannot sponsor my education and what my elder ones give me is not enough, so I was just doing this to help myself,” he said.
He also said “I just dial any number and when I hear a man’s voice, I will introduce myself as a woman to him and since I have a feminine voice, some of the men will call me back and arrange that we meet.I agree to meet them at night. There is an uncompleted building near my house and that is where I dress up. I put pure water on my chest and made them look like breast and used glue gum to paste the earrings on my ears. I put lips stick and make up like women do. But my first victim, I told him that I was a man after we got into the room. I explained everything to him that I needed money for my school, he took pity on me and gave me money. I have made N20,000 before I was caught. I feel bad about my ways; young men should not emulate me, and they should work hard and face their studies” .
Mr. Jinadu said the suspect will be prosecuted.

Olusegun Aganga is Keynote Speaker at The Future Awards 2011
The organisers of The Future Awards have formally announced the Keynote Speaker for this year’s edition which holds on Sunday, January 30, 2011. This is the sixth edition.
The Keynote Address is a yearly tradition that has seen some of the nation’s most respected role models from across the world address the brightest and best Nigerian young leaders directly in an intellectually charged environment – one of the unique attributes that have made the awards stand out in stature and impact. 2008’s Keynote Speaker was former Minister for Education and Vice President of the World Bank, Obiageli Ezekwesili and 2010’s Keynote Speaker was Managing Director of the World Bank, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
This year’s Keynote Speaker is expected to walk in that fine tradition. Olusegun Aganga, former Managing Director with Goldman Sachs is Nigeria’s Minister of Finance as well as Chairman of the 2010 Board of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (BWI).
Mr. Aganga has degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Ibadan. He is a Fellow of Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) of the United Kingdom and has worked with Ernst and Young before joining Goldman Sachs, London in 2001 where he rose to be Managing Director in 2003.
More importantly for this occasion, Mr. Aganga is the founder of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI), which was established in January 2006 as an international non-profit, non-partisan organisation registered as a charity in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Through its Leadership Seminars, Symposia, Social Responsibility Projects, Essays and Business Plan Competitions, it works to mobilise the energy, talent and resources of Nigerians worldwide to collectively tackle challenges that confront Nigeria. Backed by an Advisory Board of distinguished individuals and corporate partners, the NLI has continuously encouraged emerging and established Nigerian leaders drawn from all parts of the world to take more responsibility for the future of Nigeria.
The mission of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI) is to create a growing, global network of credible, accomplished community-spirited Nigerian leaders, committed to taking responsibility for driving positive change in Nigeria and Nigerian communities.
“Mr. Aganga is certainly another example of a Nigerian whose impact and achievements are recognized across the world and who stands out for integrity, diligence and a commitment to country and people beyond the call of duty,” said Kenneth Oliko, spokesperson for the awards. “In his words, he is “excited to be able to meet with young Nigerian leaders” and we are just as excited to welcome him amongst the brightest and the best that Nigeria has to offer.”
The Future Awards (TFA) 2011 this year holds at the prestigious Landmark Events Centre, Oniru Estate, off Ligali Ayorinde, Victoria Island, Lagos. Winners will be unveiled in categories from Best Use of Science and Best Use of Technology to On-Air Personality of the Year and Creative Artist of the Year.
TFA continues to blaze a trail as Africa’s biggest youth awards and Nigeria’s most influential youth event, partnering over the years with the World Bank, the British Council, the Federal Ministries of Information, Education and Youth, amongst others, and reaching up to 10 states of the country as well as Ghana, South Africa and the United kingdom.
This year’s edition is supported by Access Bank, HiTV and the Miccom Golf Resorts. Official media partners are Y! (www.ynaija.com), Cool FM and Wazobia FM. More information is on

COSON ASKS GOOLUCK TO REVOKE THE LICENSE OF COOL FM AND WAZOBIA FM.
Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), has written a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan demanding that the licenses of popular radio stations Cool FM and Wazobia FM be revoked. One of the reasons, being their UN-cooperative attitude towards the nation’s broadcast code and the copyright law as both headquarters are located in the same building.
‘The owners of Cool FM and Wazobia FM, who have made hundreds of millions of naira annually in advertising revenue, principally from the broadcast of music and sound recordings, have shown clearly that despite the provisions of the law, they have no intention of obtaining appropriate authorization or license for the content they deploy or pay one kobo for the music and sound recordings that sustain their operations. In other words, Cool FM and Wazobia FM are above the law‘, COSON declares.
‘We wish to notify Corporate Nigeria that of the huge amount of money paid by them to these stations, a small fraction of which is meant to be used to ensure that the owners of the content broadcast on the stations are paid, not one kobo is spent by the owners of COOL FM and WAZOBIA FM to properly acquire the rights to the music they broadcast 24 hours every day. We shall therefore consider any advertising agency or organization still advertising on Cool FM and Wazobia FM as an enemy of Nigeria’s creative industry bent on aiding and abating the continued infringement of the rights of Nigerian artistes’, says Chief Okoroji.
Chief Okoroji stated that COSON had written countless letters to Cool FM and Wazobia FM, inviting them to discussions, as they (COSON) were having with others, on the content they use and not once did they reply any of their letters.
