THRILLS AND FRILLS OF COTERIE
August 20, 2010 was another memorable day in the dairy of some celebrities and their fans as they all gathered at the Nubian Beach, a new seaside relaxation spot in Lekki, Lagos to mingle and network at the event tagged “Coterie”(a celeb & singles beach rave).
The epoch making event was staged by an event management outfit, April City Entertainment. The event created an avenue for many single young adults to have a chance to meet and mingle with some Nigerian celebrities. Prominent on the list of the celebrities were Koffi, MC abbey, Doris Simeon, Living Sax (second runner up at Britain’s got Talent), Chidinma Ekile, Tolu Adesanya and Yetunde Orija (MTN Project Fame), Gaise, Olori supergal with DJ Gosporella on the Wheels of Steel. The event was anchored by MC Acapella.
According to the coordinator of the event Atoyebi Atoyegbe, ‘Coterie seeks to bridge the gap between celebrities and their fans in a serene and relaxed atmosphere; it’s also an avenue to celebrate these celebrities. It also seeks to promote fresh talents and at the same time afford single young adults a chance to mingle and unwind in the ever busy city of Lagos.’
Atoyebi noted that the idea of not celebrating these artistes, actors and comedians in their lifetime prompted April City Entertainment to initiate the move. Besides, most fans don’t know much about their celebrities. The little they know about them is gotten from media, speculations making the rounds and also roles played on the screen.
“The event was not just fun for the celebrities and fans but an avenue to build a cordial relationship between them. It is an opportunity to awaken the micro giant in many Nigeria youths, to lure them away from social vices, to exploit many virgin land in the entertainment industry as well as promoting peace and unity in the country”, he said.
Expressing his feeling at the occasion MC Abbey, praised the organiser for organizing the unique event. He said: “this is a very unique and lovely concept, I can believe what I’m experiencing here and it will forever ring in my memory”.
Kayode Oresanya aka Living Sax (second runner up from Britain’s got Talent) who was hyper active throughout the event, said: “I am really delighted and can’t wait for the next edition; this event is the first of its kind I’ve attended”.
The next edition of Coterie is in November and it promises to be bigger and better.

THE NEW DEFINITION OF SOUL MUSIC
British born Bukola Damola (Ebisan) debuts with ‘Love Story’.
Ebisan first hit the airwaves with her 2006 single, What Women Want - A song which featured DM Squared and was on the UK Top 20 Gospel Charts. The song also received massive airplay from radio stations across the UK including the BBC radio stations and remained on the Cross Rhythms chart for a year.
Ebisan made her entry into the Nigerian entertainment industry with the title tracks for the critically acclaimed blockbuster movie, Tango with me. Her songs, ‘Suru’ and ‘Dance with Me’ were appraised as riveting soundtracks to the movie.
Now managed by Emem Ema’s ONE Management, Ebisan who just relocated to Nigeria, has a degree in Accounting and a Masters in International Business Management. Her love, however, has remained with music. “Music has always been part of me”, she says. “I have been performing since I was eight and I have taken opportunities in my life to tell stories through the art of music”.
She believes that growing up in the U.K, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria has helped her understand music internationally. Her focus however is to put her soul music in the heart of every Nigerian.

THE AMAZING MOVES OF YEKA ONKA
The winner of the first ever Nigerian Idols Yeka Onka, has been the subject on the lips of everyone.
Rumor has it that the six-foot stunner just returned from a vacation in South Africa, acclaimed as the Nigerian version of Whitney Houston as a contestant at the Nigerian Idols early this year, Yeka appears to be taking her role as Nigerian Idol to the next level. She has been spotted now and again, hard at work with Chocolate city studios ace producer and artiste, Jesse Jags and international choreographer and recording artiste Jeffrey Daniel, who is said to be working the Michael Jackson magic on the new singer.
If the mill is true, then she is also working on her debut album with producer extraordinaire Cobhams Asuquo amongst other producers. According to sources, she is also slated to visit the United Kingdom on a working trip to record more songs and shoot her music videos under her UK-based label. The talented Yeka's sultry performances endeared her to audiences and the judges alike - recalling the image of Jennifer Hudson on the American Idol stage; we hope the music fits the profile!

EXCLUSIVES FROM MERCY JOHNSON'S WHITE WEDDING
NIGERIA! WETIN DEY HAPPEN.
Listening to Banky w's song called "WHY",I couldn't help but wonder what exactly is happening in this beloved country of ours, why are we going from bad to worse, what exactly is the problem and is there really a way forward?
I travel frequently and the Muritala Mohammed international airport disgusts me,are our leaders blind don't they go abroad or even within West Africa here and see,all the al
location of 100billion or whatever amount to the ministry of aviation and all other ministries affilated to the airport, what is it used for? This is daylight robbery and we are citizens are more or less handicapped because you talk and talk and do #enoughisenough or #vision2020 yet we still collect the rubbish.
Do you know that in our airport we do not have those machines that are used to wrap torn bags, aaahan all these years we really are a waste oh! Have u entered any of the toilets, your piss would go back inside for fear of catchng a disease yet our very dense government would be appointing job creation panel and in the end no jobs created or looking for a way to increase tenure to a 6year single term saying 4years is not enough, have you even tried to start something, yet they would allocate $50million to celebrate Obama's birthday(I really hope that thing was a joke)whereas that one is looking for a way to better his country.
Upon all the killings, riot, loss of life he has been promising 'vigorous' response to these blasts yet they only get worse and he is in Aso rock lajesting,God dey
God gave us oil in delta, water for benue and Niger(do u know that Singapore imports millions of gallons of water everyday),minerial resources all over and he called us Nigeria,we don't have natural disasters na we dey cause kata kata and we have thrown away all our wisdom in the name of religion. Boko haram I hear means "education is a sin"and I'm wondering in awe like seriously,if its a sin why do they read the koran is it not part of education. We all just like to be on top and be heard but hard as it may sound not everyone is meant to be a leader some people are meant to be supporters but no oh! We must all open mouth talk even if d mouth dey stink.
I really hope we don't continue like this or leave a Nigeria like this for the next generation it would be disastrous, may God help us to help ourselves. We have electicity like we don't have it,kidnapping has become the order of the day, bombs are sold like recharge cards, the roads are worst we can only keep buying jeeps and wading through it all and nothing is been done, the rich keep getting rich and the poor poorer, yet they all go abroad for medical care, goats would be on an airport runway, dey stand dey look,Mercy!
Sad as it may seem with all these bombings I really hope they don't come to Lagos, calabar or PH,we can only hope and pray, in the east they say Chukwu gozie gi,in the west its Oluwa yi o bukun, calabars say Abasi oyong fi,hausa's Allah ba ka ya all meaning God bless you,why do we bless our selves if in the end we kill each other.
We can only keep praying and hope that God has mercy on us and things turn out for good if not we don kpai be that!

18 YEAR OLD DIVORCES 65 YEAR OLD WIFE OVER THEFT ACCUSATIONS
Na wa oh! lwkmd nothing i will not hear sha,how in the 1st place did this 18 year old marry his grand mother, was he mother sleeping abi na jazz?
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in Gusau on Tuesday 18-year-old Bashir Ayuba Umar said being accused of theft by his wife 65-year-old Ai Maikare was his saddest experience in life and the greatest insult he had ever received from a woman.
Umar told the Nigerian Tribune that his wife accused him of stealing her sewing machine and reported the case to the police who arrested and detained him for three days.
Narrating his ordeal, Umar said he was humiliated by the police on her instructions before his mother intervened and he was released .
“I can’t stand this disgrace any longer so I made up my mind to divorce her according to Islamic injunction”, Umar said.
He disclosed that he had divorced his wife three times which means the duo cannot come back together until the woman marries another man and the man divorces her.
Umar further told the Nigerian Tribune that he was now battling with tuberculosis and had been receiving treatment at the state general hospital.
He said he had reconciled with his mother and he is currently staying with her at Hayin Malam Sani in Gusau metropolis.

ASA'S BEAUTIFUL IMPERFECTION TO BE RELEASED IN THE US SEPT 6TH.
Fresh off a successful European tour in August, international recording
artiste Asa berths her sophomore album, Beautiful Imperfection, in the
United States of America on September 6. The release is through her French
record label, Naive Records.
In Beautiful Imperfection, the musician expands upon her emotional
repertoire and distinctive musical style, which has its roots in her
successful self-titled debut album, Asa released in 2007 - and she
continues to charm music lovers across the globe with her unique fusion of
reggae, pop, soul, R&B and an unmistakable Nigerian flavor.
The album will receive early programming in retail chains including Gap,
Victoria's Secret, Origins, Old Navy, Forever 21, White House Black
Market, Torrid, PUMA, Pink berry, Eileen Fisher, Chiccos, C.O. Bigelow,
Buckle, BCBG, and Anthropologie.
This is not the first time US fans will be listening to songs from the
album as the singer, in June, had performed acoustic shows in New York and
Los Angeles to promote the release of Beautiful Imperfection'. The album
was rated 2 Most Added at CMJ AAA, and receives strong support from radio
stations; KCRW & KPFK; Los Angeles, KGSR; Austin and KFAI; Minneapolis.
The singer continues to win global critical acclaim for her powerful
smokey vocals and expressive songwriting: Teen Vogue compares her to "Amy
Winehouse at her peak, Bob Marley and Marvin Gaye all in one". BUST refers
to her "smoldering vocals and beautiful and ultra-catchy melodies," AOL
praises the musician's "swinging hybrid of soul, pop, reggae, and Nigerian
music and sincere songwriting and mellow, seductive voice" and Yahoo!
Music observes that "Asa's smokey voice and velveteen melodies can't help
but evoke a gentle joie de vivre".
In related news, the new video for 'Why Can't We' which features Asa at a
dance party full of '50s Technicolor rooms, pink balloons and a whole lot
of boogying', is also gathering a fan base all on its own - with music
blog,
KCRW calling it "a burst of positive energy" and AOL Spinner crowning it
"a veritable summer anthem".
"Obviously, we are excited that Asa's music continues to attract a growing
global audience," said a representative of the singer. "That of course
means more and more work, to improve her craft and to continue to produce
the best music that she can. For all the love, Asa is grateful as always."
ABOUT ASA
Born Bukola Elemide, Aá¹£a was born in Paris, France to Nigerian
parents. She was two years old when her family returned to live in Nigeria.
Aá¹£a grew up in Lagos, in the south-western part of Nigeria. In 2004,
she met her manager and friend, Janet, who introduced her into a world
that helped her find her bearings and songs in English and Yoruba, music
falling somewhere between pop and soul, inspired by her musical heritage –
with particular care paid to the melodies – and reflecting the feeling she puts into it. Her texts talk about her country, the things in life, the things in her life,
all delivered with feigned naivete and real irony.
It was at this stage of her life that Aá¹£a finally returned to Paris.
This was her chance to test out her talent on the French musical scene,
playing with artists such as the Les Nubians, Manu Dibango, Doctor L and
Tony Allen. In the meantime, back in Nigeria, her first single, Eyé Adaba,
then Jailer, were beginning to get airtime. MTV chose her as the
ambassador for South Africa.
Aṣa soon signed to the 'Naïve label'. Partnered by Nigerian producer
Cobhams Asuquo, and with the new involvement of Christophe Dupouy, she
produced her first album, Aá¹£ha. Her second album titled Beautiful
Imperfection was released on 25 October 2010. The lead single off
Beautiful Imperfection is titled "Be My Man" and was released in late
September. A video for the song was released in mid-October.
Her awards include the 2008 Prix Constantin and she has toured
extensively across the world – including Europe, North America and Asia.

BANKY W'S EME GROUP REFUSE TO REFUND MONEY AFTER FAILED TOUR.
Information reaching me states that Banks Omisore of the Washington DC US based SoSo Selective Entertainment recently took to Twitter to make complaints about Banky W and EME refusal to make refunds of financial commitments he made into the the planned but failed EME’s Empire World order tour. It is gathered that since the series of event planned to follow after Wizkid’s album concert failed due to reasons reported to be denial of visa to the singer Wizkid, Banky W and EME team has refused to make a refund to Mr Omisore.
After the failure of having the tour kick off as planned with tour dates released, Mr. Omisore had sort for refund of his money but every effort met a brick wall,he then took to his last resort, Twitter and his tweet on August 20, 2011 12:41pm read “I’ve been buzzing u 2 refund my money for the failed #EMETOUR but U keep avoiding me. I’m sure u will reply once I file the criminal and civil suit against u and ur team.”
Information has it that before taking to Twitter, Omisore informed a number of industry insiders who also have close ties with EME record label and singer Banky W of the development as he was not been communicated to by the record label or Banky W on his refund.
It seems that the situation has however been resolved but it took third party involvement as he tweeted a few days back: “Just spoke to @segundemuren and everything is back under control..”
We gather that EME did not want to make refunds as they were looking at ways of still making the tour happen.

GUESS WHO.
LWKMD,when i heard this story i laughed out loud but then i was just disturbed.
Well my friend told me because it happened to her live and it goes thus
"her boyfriend had tweeted about a certain "celebrity" who has a big nose like a puppy(the person didnt add puppy,na my own) and the girl didnt find it funny and when this celeb saw the guy in the studio she attacked him and when she was done said"i would cut off your daughters fingers and serve it to her for her birthday" and i almost screamed with fear, how can you say that?for Christ sakes its not like this person lied about your nose, its the truth and infact it actually makes the particular girl in question look cuter.
Am sure at this point you are guessing who? let me give you a few clues:
1.she is the brand ambassador of a hair cream.
2.she is in uni lag
3.she sang ko ma.....
4. And her payoff line is "its your franchise celebrity MO"
Na wa oh! If u can't get it,its non other than Franchise "celebrity" Mo Cheddah!... That's just scary, this is someone that is supposed to be a role model
