2000 NIGERIANS TRAPPED IN LIBYA.

This is so sad as 2,000 helpless Nigerians in Libya will have to wait before they can be evacuated because Libyan authorities have refused to grant landing permit to the aircraft and personnel.

This came after President Jonathan’s directive on Wednesday ordering the immediate evacuation of Nigerians stranded out there.

According to THISDAY NIGERIA

Sources at the National Emergency Management Agency told the paper that the team for the evacuation and the aircraft chartered could not fly to Tripoli since Thursday as they are still awaiting diplomatic clearance from Libya.

The Director-General of NEMA, Sani Sidi, who is the leader of the team and others have been on standby at the airport since Thursday waiting for the clearance from Libya. Others in the team are foreign affairs officers, medical personnel and immigration/rescue officers. NEMA Spokesman Yushau Shuaib confirmed the problems being faced by the Nigerian team, saying the agency would keep trying until it gets the necessary clearance to enter Libya for the evacuation exercise.

Nigerian embassy sources in Tripoli told THISDAY last night that there are about 2,000 distressed Nigerians in Libya who are eagerly awaiting evacuation. They are said to be getting a raw deal in the hands of Libyan security men who have been brutally repressing the uprising.

The source said when the embassy was finding it difficult getting clearance for the evacuation team, at a point, it considered the idea of asking the distressed Nigerians to either move to Egypt or Mecca in Saudi Arabia, “from where the NEMA team will go and pick them.” However, the Nigerian embassy dropped the idea for fears that the Nigerians may be exposed to more dangers if they should attempt crossing Libyan land borders. The embassy source further disclosed that the Libyan authorities have been unenthusiastic about the issuance of the clearance to NEMA difficult because Libya views Nigeria as an unfriendly country.

This, the source said has been responsible for the frosty relationship between the two countries in the last ten years. As a result, Libya closed its embassy in Nigeria over ten years ago. However, Nigeria still maintains an embassy in Tripoli.

NIGERIANS ARE JOBLESS.

Nigerian "law enforcement agents" are most certainly jobless, how can u ban people from using tint i dont get?First the woman in the house of assembly wanted to pass a bill that people should not wear shorts or sleeveless dresses, then Aunt Dora said that we should not be calling Nigeria Naija,Nigezie or names like that then this..this people are magnanimous clowns, the thought of all of them causes me to reel with laughter.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Humphrey Abah revealed this at a press conference in Abuja, "with effect from February 28, 2011, owners of tinted vehicles would be made to remove them by policemen on the spot as the CAP M21, Motor vehicle prohibiting tinted glass Act, forbids use of heavily filmed cars." he said.

Mr. Abah said, the Federal Road Safety Corps and Road Traffic Services personnel are to assist the police in enforcing the law, and cars with factory-fitted tinted glasses are exempted from the directive. With this new directive ,only the President, his vice, governors, the Senate President, his deputy and majority leader as well as the Speaker, House of Representatives are permitted to use tinted glasses in the country.

The ministry boss warned that "unauthorized use of siren will attract severe sanction as such vehicles will be confiscated, adding that owners of vehicles with foreign numbers have two weeks to register them or remove them from the road."

What is the most romantic moment you've shared with him?

I hesitate because there have been many, but I guess the one that comes straight to mind is the morning of our wedding. My husband had a single rose delivered to me at 7am, with a card stating, "I can't wait to be joined with you for all eternity!" He then had a cup of tea and my favourite white chocolate cookies and another single rose sent to me in the day, with another card saying, "You are already gorgeous to me, but I can't wait to see you today!" Then, while I was doing my hair and makeup, he had yet another rose delivered with a card that said, "So, soon we will be together. I miss you baby, Your Loving HUSBAND!!!!!" He had in all, five single roses sent to me that day.

YVENT COUTRE INVITES YOU TO FACE THE GIANT.

Yvent Kouture invites you to Face the Giants

Last year, Facing the Giant gave young people an opportunity to learn how to run an event management outfit from the masters in the field.

This year, Facing the Giant returns with a more explosive session that concentrates on every phase of owning and managing an event company.

Organised by event management outfit, Yvent Kouture, Facing the Giant is a 2 day practical interactive, skill acquisition and practical conference dedicated to providing a platform for young people to hone their skills, gain more knowledge and see the possibility of becoming entrepreneurs in the events industry.

“This is our contribution towards fighting the high unemployment figures in the country”, organiser Debola Lewis of Yvent Couture said. “What we try to do is to empower young people with the tool they need most – information. We have discovered that young people are not doing as much as they ought to do in this country because they do not know they can do it. So we organise forums like this to tell them they can be the entrepreneurs they admire and we bring the big names in to show them how to be that.”

“Last year we had event management experts like Akin Ariyo of Open Hands; Tara-Fela Durotoye of House of Tara, Comedian Tee A, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe of Zapphaire Events and Tijani Mohammed of Excellent Balloons”, organiser, Lewis noted. Other facilitators were Fumibi Adebayo of Rostal Flowers, Toyosi Akerele of Rise Networks, Akin Tofowomo of Shuga Band and Leke Adenuga of Quartz Fotography.

“Facing the Giant was perhaps the most important event I ever attended in my life”, Akin Shofidiya, one of the participant of the previous edition said. “I went out of that hall challenged and concentrated on my own decoration outfit and today, just a few months after, I have a company that puts food on my table”.

This year’s edition shall feature Yewande Zacchaeus of Eventful Limited, Olakunle Soriyan of Olakunle Soriyan Company, Ace Photographer Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Akin Ariyo of Open hands Limited, Banke Meshida Lawal of BM PRO Studios, Comedian Teju Baby face and Musician Tosin Martins.

Facilitator, Tosin Martins, who also spoke about the initiative, noted that “this is an excellent approach to engage and challenge young people to go forth and do something with themselves. The organisers capitalise on their experience within the industry and their social consciousness to contribute towards building a better Nigeria”.

The second edition of Facing the Giant is scheduled to hold on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of March 2011 at the Afe Babalola Auditorium of the University of Lagos. Interested participants can visit www.facingthegiants.com.ng for more information.

OLAIDE TAIWO JAILED FOR 8YRS IN LONDON FOR FRAUD.

Why must some Nigerians remain everly stupid, now a days people dont do 419 because you would get caught easily and most especially in England where they are very suspicious of Nigerians.
I guess Olaide Taiwo aged 35 didnt seem to know that as he stole the identities of 350 people to claim £1.3million in tax credits in the largest scam(419 as we call it)he hijacked the identities while working as a security guard for a number of large national companies. He then used the names to claim tens of thousands in working tax credits.
This week he was jailed for eight and a half years – the highest ever sentence for tax credit fraud.

When he was arrested, investigators found an ‘identity thieves’ paradise’, with stacks of fake passports and driving licenses and £70,000 in cash lying around his council flat in Camberwell, South-East London. The property was littered with paperwork detailing the names, addresses and national insurance numbers of hundreds of people which he had taken from employee payroll records at dozens of companies around London where he had worked as a security guard.

They also found templates for making false passports, birth certificates, NHS cards and driving licences.
Taiwo used the identities to open hundreds of bank accounts for the benefits to be paid into, but HM Revenue & Customs became suspicious about the multiple tax credit applications and arrested him in July 2008.

They believe he was the ringleader of an organised criminal network which included his sister-in-law who worked for a job centre. But the rest of the gang are thought to have fled to Nigeria. Taiwo also tried to leave the country but he was arrested again on August 6 last year.

He was found guilty at Inner London Crown Court of fraudulently obtaining payments of tax credits, by using the names and addresses of individuals without their consent and acquiring criminal property.
Sentencing him, Judge Simon Davis ordered that he be deported at the end of his eight and a half year sentence.
He said: ‘This is a fraud on a substantial scale.
‘You lied and sought to manipulate with ease and confidence and with an arrogance that was astonishing.
‘You were intimately connected with every aspect of the fraud, stealing real details of real people to commit identity fraud on the large scale.’

Taiwo’s sister-in-law Olajumoke Ademuyiwa, 42, a Jobcentre Plus employee, was also found guilty of fraudulently obtaining tax credit payments in an earlier hearing.
Ademuyiwa opened the bank accounts into which the benefits were paid, but she is not thought to have used her role as a job centre worker to make false claims.
