"HALF OF A YELLOW SUN" SET TO HIT SCREENS SOON

Yaaay i'm actually really excited about this, Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie‘s ‘Half of a Yellow Sun‘ is set to hit screens soon.

Actors Thandie Newton, Dominic Cooper and Chiwetel Ejiofor are part of a UK cast for the screen adaptation of the best-selling novel set for March 2012 shoot.

The movie which will be shot in Nigeria is to be handled by writer-director Biye Bandele, while UK producers Andrea Calderwood (The Last King of Scotland) and Gail Egan (The Constant Gardener) have recently secured crucial private equity backing from Nigeria in order to move the anticipated project forward.

Chimamanda’s highly acclaimed second novel is centered around events of the civil war or ‘Biafran struggle’ of 1967-70, and is viewed from the perspectives of a high ranking political figure, a professor, a British citizen and a houseboy.

It was published in Britain in 2006 and won the Orange Prize for Fiction the following year.
